we sponsor academic panels at the appropriate meetings and various
scholarly associations; we sponsor conferences pertaining to Lebanese
studies, invite guest lecturers to our annual meeting, and hold an annual
Best Paper Award. We encourage the exchange of scholars between Lebanon
and various other countries and facilitate interactions between disciplines
and scholars that would not otherwise meet. In 2002, we will be launching
The Lebanese Studies Journal, a peer-reviewed electronic journal that
aims to foster cutting edge work on Lebanon across academic fields.
Furthermore, the LSA has newly established a Academic Freedom Committee

LSA annual meetings are held in conjunction with the annual MESA conference.
